2022 Johnson Family Reunion in San Francisco/Bay Area, California
What a great reunion in San Francisco!!! Thank you to Chris and Pat Perryman for hosting the reunion! It was a success! We all enjoyed the bus trip through San Francisco: seeing the sights through Chris’ friend and tour guide Mojito Frank Tucker, the reunion lunch, Pat’s super hosting gifts, and the graciousness of the California Perryman Family: Chris/Pat Perryman Family, Mark Perryman Family and Kimberly Perryman Lee Family.
Thank you to the assistance of Maryann Buckley, Gwen Cannon Wilson, Michelle Gillespie, Rhonda Moseby, Lucretia West, and David Morris. Also, the barbecue was catered by their family: Aisha, Enisha, Britton, David and Desmond. All known as Cafe 34.
I am grateful for the stories shared by our speakers: Elvira James, Linda Tyler, Rodney Thomas, Alfonso Gonzalez II, Jane White, Mary Ann Buckley, Quenton Reed, Carlton Johnson, Phyllis Blackwell and Joelisa McDonald. We were intrigued, enlightened and moved to laughter and tears. Thank you Robert P. Wheaton for the trivia contest!
Our youth and young adults did a wonderful job with the “Did You Know” segment: From James/Jason, Toraya/Milan, Kordell, Kenny, Steven, Nia, Alfonso, and Matthew.

Let's Go and FIRST STOP :
We got on our way from the Hilton Garden Inn, Emeryville. Our first stop was San Francisco City Hall. Frank, our tour guide shared about the history of the location from the Great Earthquake and Fire of 1906 to the present day popularity of City Hall as a beautiful back drop for getting married.
Next Stop:
Our next stop was the MISSION DISTRICT. We went to Clarion Alley to see the outdoor art gallery (murals) representing cultural expression and social statements.
Also, the Women's Building which is internationally recognized for its MaestraPeace Mural which honors women's contributions to the world.
Arrived at Mission Dolores Park
Enjoyed the views and visiting with family!
Our 4th Stop in the Castro neighborhood
This vibrant LGBTQ community was a favorite stop for many of the family members that couldn't buy enough of the cookies!
World's Fair
San Francisco hosted the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915. Just 9 years after the devastation from the Earthquake and fires of 1906. It highlighted a great American achievement for the completion of the Panama Canal . The fair lasted about 10 months and covered 600 acres. Now, it houses a park, observation deck, and an Exposition Center free to visitors.
